Principal's Report
Dear Families,
CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to all students who took part in the whole school cross country this morning and completed the course. Challenges such as these are excellent examples of the opportunities to demonstrate our school values, in particular: Be Resilient. As running is my passion, I was disappointed that I was unable to attend. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all volunteers for your support, without whom the event could not have taken place. Thank you also to Amy Parsons for organising the event.
SCHOOL24
With a rich variety of fundraising and Parents & Friends school events coming up for the rest of term and beyond, we want to make taking part and contributing as easy as we can. This year, we will be making use of ‘School24’ as we know this to be an easy and accessible platform for school communities. Whilst parents/carers will be able to make use of the simple and easy-to-use family/student registration, School24 also allows guests to take part and contribute to fundraisers, enabling the wider community to get involved and enhance the success of events.
For more information on how to set-up and register please click here. Alternatively you can contact the office or School24 directly at any time via email: info@school24.net.au, phone: 02 7251 6939, or their helpful Online Chat: https://www.school24.net.au/.
NAPLAN 2025
Next week will mark the start of the NAPLAN window, which runs from Wednesday 12th to Monday 24th March. Each year, Year 3 and 5 students across the country take part in these national assessments, and our students will complete four assessments: Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language, and Numeracy. We wish the students in these year levels all the best for their assessments and know that they will do us proud simply by doing their best.
LONG WEEKEND – PUBLIC HOLIDAY MONDAY 10th MARCH
We hope you all enjoy the long weekend, with the Labour Day Public Holiday on Monday. We will see you back at school for a new week on Tuesday morning.

Year 3 & 4
Self Portrait collages
At the beginning of the year we start with creating a self portrait. Year 3 & 4s followed a step by step process for drawing the proportions of the face. Using coloured pencil and white posca we studied our individual iris and chose the relevant colours to colour it in. To create hair, students cut out shapes from paper, used a fine liner pen to add hair strands and covered with a school hat.
Our school uniform was cut out from paper and decorated with posca pens.
They look sensational! Well done Year 3 & 4s

Year 5/6 Lightning Premiership
On Tuesday, we went to Portarlington Recreation Reserve for the Lightning Premiership. The weather was sunny, so we had to remember sunscreen and water. Everyone was a bit nervous but also excited to play T-Ball and Cricket against other schools.
There were lots of funny and exciting moments. In T-Ball, Mrs. Pugh almost found out the hard way that Kiyomi’s bat can go further than the ball! Our T-Ball team didn’t win, but we kept trying and cheered each other on. In Cricket, our first game against St. Aloysius was really close—we only lost by four runs. Our last T-Ball game was Wallington vs. Wallington, and it was so close, but we ran out of time. Maybe we can finish it at school!
The best part of the day was hanging out with friends and having fun. We also learned some important lessons—like not diving for a catch unless you’re sure you’ll make it (because it hurts if you don’t!).
If you’re in Year 5 or 6 next year, definitely give it a go, even if you’re not sure about the sport. A big thanks to Mrs. Parsons, Mr. Anderson, Mr. KT, Mrs. Pugh, and Janelle for organising and helping out. It was such a great day!

Wellbeing at Wallington
Welcome back to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities!
Congratulations on making it to Week 6!
This week’s activity is designed to support students to recognise when they are beginning to become escalated so that they can use strategies to regulate themselves. Your child may talk about a time when they ‘flipped their lid’ which is something we have been discussing in Wellbeing lesson earlier this year. You might choose to share an example of when you might have felt upset or excited and a strategy you used to regulate yourself.
